The Castles & Regions project is supported by the Vyšehrad Fund within the V4 + program in partnership with five institutions from four countries. The leading partner of the project is the Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum (Hungarian National Museum). The partners involved in the project are Magyar Település- és Területfällätsök Szötségege (Association for the Development of Hungarian Cities and Towns) from Hungary, Tvrdjava Golubacki Grad (Golubac Fortress) from Serbia, Muzeum Okręgowe w Sandomierzu (District Museum in Sandomierz) from Poland and Pro Castello Comaromiensi, n.o. from Slovakia.
The aim of the project is to explore and develop the role, networking, heritage management of medieval and early modern castles along the Danube and the social, cultural, tourism and economic opportunities of the castle and the region. The project wants to turn the participating castles into a “brand”, which was once of primary importance in the life of the Danube region. The project wants to restore this original central role and meaning.
Part of the project will be a virtual exhibition about the own and shared history of the participating partners, castle regions, the relationship between the castle and the region, and the current cultural, economic, touristic and other roles of castles.
If possible, one-day workshops will be held at the project partners (Komárno, Sandomierz, Golubac, Ostrihom) and as a final event a two-day conference will be held in Visegrád and Ostrihom.
For those interested in participating in this workshop, here is a short questionnaire that we will be happy if you fill out. The results of the questionnaire will be the basis for the topics of the workshop.
One of the important results of the project will be a consortium called the Network of Castles along the Danube, which will be created with partners and which assumes the cooperation of the participating institutions.
